Hailing from New Jersey, up and coming band, Real Estate, have been infiltrating the blogosphere like wannabe’s at a house party, the only catch… they’re playing the house party, and they are the real deal.
For every kid who grew up in the suburbs, summer is sacred, and nothing says summer like the beach, house parties, and everyone’s first time for everything. Think of all things suburban and summer and you’ve got Real Estate’s ethos. Combined with jangly guitar-driven pop, and that hazy summer sound, it’s no wonder their tracks have spread throughout the blogosphere like swine.
Look for their self-titled debut LP, coming out on November 17th via Woodsist. And check them out live, as they tour North America this fall with Vivian Girls, Neon Indian, Girls, and Japandroids.
I can’t tell whether The latest video from San Francisco indie-rockers Girls is supposed to be footage from their tour, a musical porno, a recreation of some adolescent fantasy, or just an attempt to get some highly bloggable meme coverage. Currently, if you search Girls in google, the first thing that comes up is the band’s myspace (just above the spice girls website and the Gossip Girl site)
Tapes N Tapes played a show in Boulder a bit ago. I was a bit dissapointed by their live performance, but the opening band The Knew did an alright job. Tapes n Tapes has decent recordings but I just really was not into their live show.
Etiam Vita creator, Bryant Eslava continues to wow me with his abilty to capture the perfect balance of Sex/money/drugs/Kidds. His latest shoot featured World Class Youth’s very own Kris Kidd, and Lookbook superstar/vagabond-model OliviaLo
The boys from local Boulder electro/disco/thrash duo, Primal Fever, sent me their latest remix via my newsoundcloud account. This hard hitting banger is sure to get any party started right. The dirty synths and catchy vocals will have you toe tapping, head bobbing, and singing along in no time.
This band always comes up on the Born Ruffians Last.fm radio channel and I’ve really started to get into them. Its not lo-fi-chillwave-GvBcore, but its really good. Its powerfully melodic noise rock you can jump around your room to like nobody’s watching. Their album Why there are mountains was included on Pitchfork’s Best New music. Cymbals Eat Guitars encompass that familiar indie 90’s era with their slow disheveled strummed verses and loud boisterous choruses. Formed in 2005, the quartet hails from Staten Island, New York and consists of lead vocalist/guitarist Joseph D’Agostino, drummer Matthew Miller, bassist/vocalist Neil Berenholz and keyboardist/vocalist Brian Hamilton.
